They've said lots of things about Nicole Krauss...about her privileged youth, the zeros included in her multiple book deal, her NY house, and who she married...Some of it is even interesting, and arguably enviable. None of the tabloid-like biographical tidbits, however, are nearly as interesting as the novel itself.
My friend Greg S. recommended it when I asked him if he'd read anything steeped deeply in characterization. I'm teaching a course in the fall called Characterization and wanted to talk about a couple of novels. This one is going to be one of them. Check it out.
